Seven Pounds. Heavier. That is exactly how I feel after watching the movie. No, I wasn't snacking.
Seven Pounds, the movie runs deep with emotional, trauma and punishment. It is a movie which is hard to sit through and requires much, too much, attention to the details which are splattered throughout the whole movie from start to end. That means you have to put all the pieces together in order to understand the movie. Phew! It is a lot of hard work.
This is the story of Tim Thomas. On causing the death of his fiancee and seven other innocent people on the road, Tim starts on a personal vendetta of donating this organs to seven deserving people. He starts with a lung lobe to his brother Ben, liver to a child services worker Holly, kidney to an ice hockey coach, bone marrow to a young boy Nicholas, eyes to a blind meat seller Erza and finally heart to his new love, Emily Posa. One man was rejected for ill-treating residents in his nursing home. Oh yes, he also gave his lovely beach house to an abused woman, Connie and her two children.
The mystery gets quite lost in between the flash back and interrupted connections of the on-going happenings. I have to admit that Tim is noble to have to do this. But I personally find it hard to swallow his self-punishment in order to elevate his pain and guilt. There are much better ways to deal with pain. The word is counselling.
Rating: 2.5 out of 5 fairy clouds. Nay. Watch it once or don't even watch it. You are not missing much from this movie.
