Gather of Laughter

I love my secondary schoolmates. We have all known each other for like 18 years, since we are all 13 years old kiddos. Till today, we will still meet each other on a regular basis despite some of us have already started a family, remain single or becoming single.

It is great to see such wonderful friendship and support from each other. We always have a lot of fun and a lot of memories what we have shared in the past. Some of them we prefer to keep as memory and not to be further discussed. We were young and we all did silly things but we had our fun, and will always remember it.

I love you guys! HUG to you all wonderful people who are part of my life. I thank you for being there for me in the past, in the present and in the future.

Christmas Service

For the first time in 31 years of my life, I attended my first Christian Christmas Service. It was quite enjoyable. To the devotee, I salute you in your loving and giving spirit this festive season.

I do have to admit that being a typical anti-christian, I am not ready to accept god yet. I am still the most important person in my life and my own world, I will not compromise or share my throne.

Merry Christmas to all and PEACE on earth! Feliz Navidad!

Christmas Party with NEW Friends

I was invited to a party by a christian colleague/friend. In the spirit of fun and giving, I accepted her kind invitation. It has been a while since I am out meeting new people and especially now that I have just regained my singlehood.

I had a wonderful time. I met a bunch of wonderful, fun, and loving people of different ages, both girls and guys. We played a couple of ice breaker (games) to get to know each other more, before we proceed to the nice feast which we have all waiting for.

I enjoyed myself very much. I got to know quite a number of new friends. But I am ashamed to say that there are just so many of them that I can't remember a lot of their names. My name, however, is much easier for them to remember.

I'm pretty proud of myself and amazed that I managed to blend and confidently open myself and speak to people like I have known them for a long time. It has been a long time since I was in my sociable mode. I love it and I love myself.

While in the Christmas spirit, I would like to share a verse I read in a book which I was reading recently, Five Love Languages for Children. I'm not a Christian myself. But I find meaning in the verse. I hope that people who are confused, lost or lost love, will one day find themselves again. May the verse bring you hope, and light up your path in life.

Fear not, for I am with you.
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you.
Yes I will help you.
I will uphold you with My Righteous right hand.

A Crazy Christimas - Singapore Rojak!

Last Saturday, I went to watch A Crazy Christmas with an schoolmate at the Drama Centre (inside National Library). I had a great evening.

I have a lot of fun and was humming and Singapore to all the familiar Christmas tunes. Love is in the air for me even as a single girlie now.

Back to the musical carol. The Dream Academy team did themselves another wonder. The comedy show by each of the performer, coupled with their wonderful singing, was quite a thrill. You can most definitely feel that Christmas is in the air. Salute to Hossan Leong and Sebastian Tan! Well done!

Now I'm waiting to go watch Dim Sum Dollies. It will be a wonderful birthday treat for myself. I'm looking forwards to a wonderful 2009 already! Woohoo!!

All Hail Kumar the Queen!

Finally! I have finally finally manage to catch one of Kumar's performance!

Kumar is currently performing at 3 Monkey's cafe, a place where my friends and I intermittedly hang out. As expected, most of the jokes are simply RATED, and some a little crude. Come on, take it with a pinch of salt.

For the faint hearted and easily offended, don't even bother to go. The rest of you who are much light hearted and interested to have a laugh, go ahead and enjoy the show.

Personally I like the performance even though I didn't laugh out that loud. Not a me thing to do. Still, it was quite an wonderful evening for me as I received a compliment of being very pretty. Oh thanks so much Kumar darling! I feel like the top of the world that evening.

Truth or Dare: 6th Floor Rear Flat

As much as it is a simple game we have played in our teens or college years, it can also have a life changing effect as we witness in this No. 2 box office hit from Hong Kong.

I'm not a general fan of Hong Kong movie, but I do recommend this one. The story speaks of 6 young slackers (4 guys & 2 gals), who indulged in nothing but fun, play and parties. Life is like a big game to them. Truth or Dare is the game they frequently engaged in.

They played with true enthusiasm in showing the boldness and foolishness of a young one. Until one day, they are challenged to fulfil a task within a year or accept the penalty of eating someone's shit.

Once into the movie, you will slowly discover the inner wish and dream of each youth and see how they slowly grow and evolve, moving slowly towards their life path and dreams.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 fairy clouds. It is a great movie for a beautiful lazy weekend when you have nothing planned.

Stardust

A young and inquisitive man, Dunstan Thorne, from the Village of Wall, crosses to the the magical Kingdom of Stormhold. He met an enslaved princess and 9 months later, received their son, Tristan Thorne.

Eighteen years later, Tristan ventured inside the wall and started an amazing adventure that later revealed his true identity. Originally he was trying to retrieve a fallen star to prove his love to Victoria, his childhood sweetheart.

He discovered that the fallen star is actually our heroine, Yvaine. This chance meeting changed both their lives. They started on a new journey together and met with many interesting characters of Stormhold while trying to run away from Lamia (witch) and Septimus (almost the heir of the kindgom of Stormhold).

Many unexpected twists and turns on the story to keep you wondering what is going to happen next. Beautiful landscape and visual effects. It is a movie worth watching.

Rating: 5 out of 5 fairy clouds! MUST SEE! Full of unexpected twists.

House of Harmony

Saturday was a movie marathon day for me. After watching "You Are My Sunshine". I took a dinner break before continuing a 2nd movie, "House of Harmony"

The story involves the lives of 2 Asian women, mother and daughter, during the early years of 1920s to 1950s. The story starts on the familiar island of Singapore.

Mother, Mei-ling, as played by Fann Wong was a learned and cultured daughter of a well known doctor. She met a charming Mr Barclay who was unfortunate attacked and subsequently had amnesia. While nursing him back to health, she fell for him. A twist of an unfinished love story as she became pregnant and gave birth to Harmony, played by Maggie Q.

Pretty as she is, Maggie Q acting is lacking in depth and emotional portrayal. She too suffered the same fate as her mother as she fell madly in love with this real father's stepson Gideon. Will she learn from her mother's lesson or will she create her own path where inter-racial marriage was a taboo during that period of time?

It is a long movie. I wonder if the book might actually be more interested to read as the movie seem to have jump at different spots, loosely linking up certain scenes and plots. Story gets old and predictable and annoying as the main female leads tried to fight weakly (quite literally) with the society expectation.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 fairy clouds.

You Are My Sunshine

I watched a very touching Korean movie, "You Are My Sunshine".

The story starts with life of a beautiful girl who works are at coffee shop (ahem, with extra services) and the simpleton farmer. It was love at first sight for our male lead, Suk-jung while Eun-ha is just a skeptic that has been through a tough time in life and doesn't believe in love. Don't blame her when she sees the most awful things in all men.

As the love devoted Suk-jung proposed to Eun-ha, you see our female lead slowly opening up her heart to the sincerity of true simple love. Of course with any Korean movie, their love was tested as her past catches up with her while he discovered she was HIV-positive.

Plot twisted and turned as with any other Korean movies. And at the end, you feel how true love battles and wins against all odd. Quite touching movie. Except that in real life, this is really a tragedy to go through.

Rating: 3 out of 5 fairy clouds. A nice movie if you have nothing else to do and want to get a little sobbie.

A Heartful of Love

Don't we all have regrets? What if one of them is so significant that it can affected your life so much?

The plot of A Heartful of Love started with characters who have regrets in their lives which they would want to change if given a 2nd chance. This chance came in the form of them taking a flight to the town, Moji and experienced time travel to the same place 20 years ago.

The plot thickens as the characters started to unravel the truth behind their regrets. What they are actually missing out in their lives and how they realise what they need to do.

Instead of a simple time travel, they are actually transported back into the past to undo or change their lives before they could pass over. These characters were actually dead but were given a final chance to work on that one thing in their lives which they would change.

It is an amazing and touching story as you follow the characters into the personal journey of their past and how they deal with the situation; grow, let go and made peace. The storyline is very well done.

Rating: 5 out of 5 fairy clouds. This is really a MUST-SEE movie.

A Weird Dream

I dreamt of being in a house. Other than myself, there is my baby girl, my mother-in-law and another lady whom I have no idea who she is.

I was looking for milk powder. Then I found cartons of milk powders with only 2 cans are the right formula for my daughter. The rest of the milk powder are for toodler and older kid for like 1 year and above. When I picked the milk powdwer, it changed into 2 pages of a newspaper.

Because of the frustration in looking for her things, I screamed at my mother-in-law for not being a good caregiver. As her diapers, milk powder, cleaning lotion, changing mat, etc are all over the house in different rooms. My mother-in-law just stood aside and did nothing as I scolded her.

I decided that I am going to take my daughter out of the house. I look for a bag to pack some of her neccessity. I can't find a bag to hold her diapers. I can't find container to hold milk powder, I can't find thermos to hold hot water. I only managed to get hold of a changing mat in front of me. I was very frustrated.

Then I looked up and saw my daughter lying uncomfortably at the edge of the sofa. I decided that I should pick her up myself since no one else seem to care for her in this house. As I walked towards my daughter. I noticed there is an unknown lady sitting there, in her own world mostly. Never saying anything or helping or looking in my entire dream.

Moving towards my daughter who is still lying in an ackward position, I picked her up. Still looking at her, I told her I love her and gave her a kiss. I remember she smiled at me, as if she understood what I have told her and telling me she loves me too.

Note: I am not pregnant and I have not seen my mother-in-law for a long time.

Diving @ Pulau Dayang 2

Took a short break again this July, went to Dayang for another round of diving trip from 8-11 August 2007.

This trip, I took my advance course and did a total of 8 dives. The night dive will be done at a later dive trip as we are all pretty tired out. It has been fun and refreshing. I have enjoyed the company and good food.

Quite fun to have a group of current chiongster. Ha ha... what a name! I got a see quite a few moray eels, giant bumphead, puffer and a giant puffer! Though I would really love to see how big they can blow up to. Perhaps the next trip, I will get to see it.

The only regret is that my husband is unable to join me. I know inside my heart that he would love to go on such a trip and he would be quite jealous of the adventure and nice food I was treated too! Too bad for you darling, the next one I sponsor you.

Nostalgia! Those warm cuddling feelings inside....

Was thinking of a special someone when this song pops into my mind. Very much like any romantic hollywood movie, this was our theme song.

SOMEWHERE OUT THERE
Somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlight
Someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight

Somewhere out there someone's saying a prayer
That we'll find one another in that big somewhere out there

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star
And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there if love can see us through
Then we'll be together somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star
And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there if love can see us through
Then we'll be together somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true

Would You Be There

Its from the recent Channel 8 sitcom, Double Happines. I find the lyrics quite lovely.

Would You Be There (composed and sang by Redwan Ali)

If I were blue, would you be there for me,
And whisper in my ears that's ok.
Would you stand by me, let me hold you tight,
And say you love me one more time.

If I feel good, would you slow dance with me?
And touch my lips with tender loving care?
Would you die for me?
Would you run with me?
And never look back..

Would you be there to love, to be with me?
Would you swear that your love is always true?
Would you say that you'll always be the one,
to take my breath away?

Would you be there to love, to be with me?
Would you swear that your love is always true?
Would you say that you'll always be the one,
to take my breath away?

Would you be there..

If I am away, would you still think of me?
And wish that you could hold me now?
Would you die for me?
Would you run with me, all the way?

Would you be there to love, to be with me?
Would you swear that your love is always true?
Would you say that you'll always be the one,
to take my breath away?

Would you be there to save my soul tonight?
Would you swear that your love is always true?
Would you say that you'll always be there to kiss my pain away?
Would you be there to love, to be with me?
Would you swear that your love is always true?
Would you say that you'll always be the one,
to take my breath away?

Would you be there to save my soul tonight?
Would you swear that your love is always true?
Would you say that you'll always be there to kiss my pain away?

Would you be there..
for me?

Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End

I made an effort to watch the movie this evening. The 2.5 hours long epic is full of mischef and nonsensical ethics of Captain Jack Sparrow!

Aye aye, Captain!

You can expect the usual spoof from Jack as well as his eccentricity. There are a couple of
unexpected twists in the movie. Then again, I didn't put an expectation on how the movie or story might become.

The beginning was a little confusing as I have forgotten about the last sequence, except all the laughable bits. But I'm sure die hard fans will remember it better than I can.

Still, this movie was quite enjoyable especially for fans of Johnny Depp or Pirates of the Carribean. Or if you are just looking for some fun entertainment for the evening to weekend.

Rating: 4 out of 5 fairy clouds (I'm a fan, you can't fault me.)

Diving @ Pulau Dayang

I spent the weekend at diving at Pulau Dayang. It was a pretty relaxing dive trip in general.

Accomodation, food and toilet/bathroom are pretty basic. Nothing to rave about. One word of advice, bring your own blanket! But the beach and water is simply fantastic. I never thought I will live to see such amazing water condition in Asia!

Blue water white sand beach of Dayang.

Cozy little accomodation at Dayang. Look at the rock cliff behind... Amazing right?

You can see Pulau Aur from the beach.

Of the 5 dives, 2 have pretty good visibiliy while the other 3 are limited visibility. I didn't get a see as much as the last dive trip to Pulau Tioman in March. I used a film underwater camera, so I doubt I made any good shots. Still, I'm anxious to check it out.

In Tioman, I buddied with a Dive Master, so the two of us got to see a lot of interesting marine life. Of course, my buddy was excellent in pointing out amazing fishes and creatures for me to see.

In Dayang, the experience is quite different. It is good exposure to feel how different waters can be like and what are the things to look out for in such situations. I got a few cuts and bruises. I also realised that I'm more comfortable going down the sea and can fin pretty well. Still need to work on my buoyancy.

Odyssey from Johannesburg

I was invited to watch a friend performance Gotham Penthouse last evening. As a perk, a group of hunks are also performing at the same location. They are none other then Odyssey from Johannesburg.

I must said the evening was a flop! My friend was an excellent dancer, except that it was just a 40 second stunt. The bollywood competition wasn't exciting nor were the dancers.

Even the hunks failed to cheer up the audience. The moment they stepped onto the stage, you can feel neither energy nor enthusiasm. They might be familiar with their routine, but dance need to be choreographed again. Using the old popular dance movements and steps from the late 80s to 90s ain't going to get people excited.

And please... change to better costume. Hip gyrating and balls pumping aren't just the only seduction tool. You need subtle movement and actions too! Too much in your face acts are a BIG BIG turn off.

Dead Like Me

For those of you who have watched "Dead Like Me", bravo! Its a damn good show. For those of you who didn't, I recommend watching it. Funny as hell and brillant as mad scientist! Sadly there's only 2 seasons, check out http://www.deadlikeme.tv.

Some of the quotes which I love from the show.

Georgia [waiting at Happy Times for Dolores]

I'd say I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not. I excel at not giving a shit. Experience has taught me that interest begets expectation, and expectation beget disappointment, so the key to avoiding disappointment is to avoid interest. A equals B equals C Equals A, or whatever. I also don't have a lot of interest in being a good person or a bad person. From what I can tell, either way, you're screwed. Bad people are punished by society's laws, and good people are punished by Murphy's Law. So you see my dilemma.

Mason [talking to Roxy @ Waffleshaus]
Because you're an ornery bitch who eats puppy dogs for breakfast.

Mason & Roxy [ahem, the cocaine in his rectum]
R: What's wrong with you? Are you stoned?
M: I've got illegals in my bottom...
R: Why do you do this to yourself?
M: I don't know.

Georgia [narration at the beginning of the show]
I'm going to tell you a story, not my story, that's later, this is just a story... Ready? Once upon a time, or more specifically at the dawn of time, god, lower case "g", was getting busy with creation, as the kids these days are saying. He gave Toad a clay jar and said, "Be careful with this. It's got death inside". Pleased as punch and oblivious to the fact that he was about to become god's fall guy on the whole death issue, Toad promised to guard the jar. Then one day Toad met Frog. "Let me hold the jar of death, or what ever you call it", Frog begged. With a nod to Nancy Reagan's pros of wisdom, Toad just said no. But Frog was determined, and after much wining Toad finally gave in. "You can hold it, but only for a second", he said. In his excitement, Frog began to hop around and juggle the death jar from one foot to the other. Frog was an asshole. "Stop!" Toad cried out, but it was to late. Frog dropped the jar and it shattered to the ground. When it broke open, death got out, and ever since then all living things have to die. Makes you wonder how much better the world would be if frogs just stuck to hawking beer. So there you have it, the mystery of death finally revealed. We all die, some of us sooner then later. For me it's going to be much sooner. But that's only the beginning of my story.

Mason [referring to Rube, after Georgia screwed up]
Stay on his good side. He's like a volcano, George. He erupts and spews lava in little villages. They run around, they run around for their lives. But you know he stops and you can go back to the safety of your own home.

Rube [commenting on Georgia]
You're a constipator, Peanut. You disturb my shit, and that's annoying.

Rube [to woman who cut queue by joining her acquaintance in the post office]
R: I have a question for you... is everyone in this line an asshole?
W: Excuse me?
R: Is everyone you just cut in front of an asshole?
W: No.
R: So it's just you then?
W: I have children in the car.
R: I have a cake in the oven. He's got three minutes left on the meter. And she's got a lunch meeting. We all have a finite amount of time. Now get in the back of the line. And don't use your children like that - it's shameful.

Roxy [to the man who cussed her after she booked him a ticket]
I'm going to put this politely as possible. I will fuck you up!

Phantom of the Opera @ Esplanade Theatre

I first watched Phantom of the Opera in 1993, through special promotions by Pan Pacific Hotels for their corporate customers. 30% for the early birds. I bought the Cat 1 ticket and went to the play alone.

Hearing rumours of the troupe coming to Singapore again in April 2006, I kept my eyes open for any news. Then my wish came true to watch the musical again! I didn't miss the play as a student then, I wouldn't miss this for anything in the world. I went twice! First on 31 March 2007 and second on 11 May 2007 with Cat 1 tickets.

I have totally enjoyed the musical. I would recommend this again to anyone out there. Do not miss it. The lighting, the props, the stage play, the costumes... everything is just wonderful. It is really a magical moment.

I made a wish after this evening musical. I would like my loved one to bring me to watch Phantom of the Opera should there be another performance. I have been going to musical alone. I'm looking for someone who will share this same interest.

L'Enfant

This movie brought you through the meandering rivers of teenagers as they grappled with responsibilities, identities and a sense of personal goals towards their lives.

You watched the young couple deal with unstable lifestyles at the edge of the forbidden dark lives of the crooks. For young Bruno is fighting to stay alive by involving himself with petty crimes and selling whatever he can lay his hands on. While young Sonia is just starting to work on building her nest with the arrival of a baby boy, Jimmy.

You noticed the difference in value between a boy and a young mommy and soon realised that something bad is going to happen to them in which one of them will live to regret. Bruno paid he price by attemting to sell off his own baby.

Regretting his action, you see how he transformed himself through a very quick growth period into a responsible person who faced with music instead of running away from it and thinking there is always another day.

I must said the acting offered by Sonia character is limited as the movie focused very much on Bruno. It is a serious movie if you have the patient to deal with hardship and stupidity.

Rating: 3 out of 5 fairy clouds.

Narco - The Secret Adventures of Gustave Klopp

This is an amazingly hilarious and depth movie!

Hilarious as you watch the lead actor falling asleep in very possible scenarios of his growing life and wonder how he managed to get by, find time to fall in love and even got married. As an ordinary man, he has an extraordinary adventure!

Deep because you see how people struggle through their unhappiness and loneliness. You see in them the monsters they resisted throughout their lives and trying to escape from it instead of dealing vis-a-vis with it. At the end you see the strength we human always have, the ability to courages face hardship in the eyes and persevere through our stubbornly strong will.

Rate: 4.5 out of 5 fairy clouds

Along came... SPIDERMAN 3

Last night I went to watch Spiderman 3 wth a colleague. Free movie, so no complains but review.

The movie starts with a lot of action and suspense to make you wonder what is happening and keeping you entertain in an over 2 hours long movie time. It is cool to see the human side of spiderman as he became consume by his anger and grief.

Of course we will also wish for the best for our superhero and end the tyranny of the evil characters. I find it too naive and childish to assume that bad guys can turn into a big softie and repent for their sins.

In real life, people are sometimes way too stubborn for their own good to understand what they must do to stop hurting other people around them. Some of just trapped in their own world and have no consciousness of other people around them.

Overall, it is still a decent movie. Of course the question if little Peter Parker finally pops the questions "Will you marry me?" to Mary-Janes is forever missing. And yes yes, we know your love. Get married or get over it. Prolonging the agony of romance is not necessarily going to get audience going "aahh..." or "oohh..." when it happens.

Rate: 3 out of 5 fairy clouds.
